THE TOOLING DESIGN ENGINEER ROLE:
As a Tooling Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for creating bespoke tooling solutions—jigs, fixtures, test rigs, and more—to support the manufacturing of specialist defence systems. You’ll work across the full product lifecycle, from prototype to full-rate production, applying your CAD expertise and design-for-manufacture knowledge. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including production and industrial engineering to ensure cost-effective and high-quality tooling delivery.
TOOLING DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Proven experience in tooling design within a manufacturing environment
- Strong CAD design skills using CREO; PDM experience with Windchill
- Experience in CNC machining, composites, additive manufacturing, or similar
- Ability to produce detailed technical drawings (BS8888, GDandamp;T)
- Understanding of DFM/A and PFMEA principles
- Confident generating BOMs, routings, and process documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with a team-first attitude
