Location: Bristol | Hybrid Working (3 Days Onsite)

Salary: £65,000 – £70,000

We’re currently supporting a leading defence-focused organisation in the search for an experienced Software Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Bristol. This is an opportunity to work on highly secure, mission-critical projects at the forefront of modern technology.

The successful candidate will have strong software engineering experience across Python, C#, or Java, with exposure to AI or Machine Learning technologies considered a strong advantage.

The Role

You’ll be involved in the design, development, and delivery of secure software solutions within a collaborative engineering environment. The role offers a mix of office-based working and customer engagement, including occasional travel to client sites a couple of times per month.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions
• Work across the full software development lifecycle
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and customers
• Contribute to technical problem solving and system improvements
• Support delivery into highly secure defence environments

Required Experience

• Commercial experience with Python, C#, or Java
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and development best practices
• Experience working within secure or regulated environments is desirable
• Previous defence or government sector experience would be beneficial
• Exposure to AI / Machine Learning technologies is a plus

Requirements

• Eligible for or currently holding active SC Clearance
• Sole British nationality is essential due to project requirements
• Willingness to work onsite in Bristol 3 days per week
• Flexibility to travel to customer sites occasionally
